Starting young

This past week, my 5-year-old granddaughter was visiting and she was very curious about the needlepoint I was stitching. She asked if she could do one, too, so I bought her a child-friendly kit at Christine's Osterville Needlepoint Shop. She took to it immediately and wanted to stitch every day - even before breakfast! YAY!!!

I'm looking into where to get the canvas (6 mesh) so I can design some of my own kid canvases. If you are interested in this idea, click "Comments" below, with any suggestions or thoughts.

  2. Please do. One you could do is the philadelphia Love symbol. Easy to stitch. There once was a canvas like that. My daughter stitched it. Never found it again. The craft store needlepoint is very mimicked and not easy to work on. So, please follow thru on your idea!

  3. Hi BBE - Thanks for your comment. The Philadelphia LOVE sculpture is one of a series done in the 1970's by Robert Indiana (based on his silkscreen prints). I do already have a pink & green version on #10 mesh, but will certainly do do the red, green & blue version on 6 mesh, if I can. Thanks for the idea!! I'll keep you posted.
